Digital Equalizer (DE) Program
AIF’s Digital Equalizer (DE) program is a Techno-Pedagogy (Integration of Technology with pedagogical concepts for general subjects) program that is bridging the education and digital divide in India, and preparing tens of thousands of children to compete in the digital economy. DE imparts computer, internet and pedagogy education to subject teachers & students through project-based learning techniques. The program is tightly integrated with the school curriculum thereby improving subject matter expertise through the use of technology.
AIF Trust was implementing Digital Equalizer (DE) program in classical model (school level intervention; decentralized kind of training) in Punjab since last 7 years successfully. While school level training was the uniqueness of the program and is seen as an effective way of imparting training, it is not without its challenges and risks such as lack of standardization, expensive, inconsistency, instructor quality, infrastructure problems, etc.
In view of the above concerns, the Government of Punjab (GoP) has approached AIF to undertake and implement the DE program at centralized level. The centralized training model is perceived to be more advantageous that suit both the trainers as well the learners such as availability of dedicated teachers and time for training, richer resources, effective communication and co-ordination, standardization and cost effective.
